The Texas Longhorns have made significant strides in securing top talent for their future rosters, particularly focusing on prospects eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft. A notable commitment is from safety Zelus Hicks, who pledged to the Longhorns in September 2024. Hicks, standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 180 pounds, was ranked as the No. 54 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking. His decision to reclassify to the 2025 class further underscores his readiness to contribute to Texas’s defense sooner than anticipated.

In addition to Hicks, the Longhorns have secured commitments from other highly touted recruits. Quarterback Dia Bell and wide receiver Chris Stewart have both committed to Texas, bolstering the team’s offensive prospects. Bell is ranked as the No. 17 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, while Stewart holds the No. 203 spot.

The Longhorns are also trending positively for other top 2026 targets. Recent reports indicate that Texas is the projected landing spot for four-star safety Chace Calicut. Calicut, hailing from North Shore High School in Houston, Texas, is ranked as the No. 17 safety in the 2026 class and is the No. 204 prospect nationally.

These recruiting successes are a testament to Texas’s enhanced reputation as a premier destination for top-tier talent. The program’s recent performance, including deep playoff runs and a strong presence in the NFL Draft, has made it an attractive option for recruits aiming for both collegiate success and professional aspirations. The Longhorns’ ability to develop NFL-ready talent is evident, with the program on track to produce double-digit draft picks, solidifying their standing as a top-tier developmental program for pro football.

Looking ahead, the Longhorns’ recruiting momentum shows no signs of slowing. The coaching staff continues to build relationships with top prospects, aiming to secure commitments that will keep Texas competitive on the national stage. As these recruits develop within the program, they are poised to make significant impacts, both in college football and in future NFL Drafts.

In summary, the Texas Longhorns have successfully secured commitments from top prospects like Zelus Hicks, Dia Bell, and Chris Stewart, while also trending positively for other elite talents such as Chace Calicut. These efforts underscore the program’s commitment to recruiting excellence and its focus on developing players ready to make an impact at both the collegiate and professional levels.
