Notre Dame’s offensive line will undergo a makeover as they replace and reload.

Notre Dame’s offensive line is set for a major overhaul as the team looks to replace key departures and reload with fresh talent. The Fighting Irish have long been known for their strong offensive line play, producing top-tier talent that transitions well to the NFL. However, with multiple starters moving on, the 2024 season will bring new challenges and opportunities for the unit.

### **Key Departures and Their Impact**

Notre Dame loses several veteran linemen, including Joe Alt, a projected first-round NFL Draft pick, and Blake Fisher, who played a crucial role in anchoring the right side of the line. Their departures leave significant gaps at both tackle positions, forcing the Irish to find reliable replacements quickly. Additionally, interior linemen such as center Zeke Correll and guard Andrew Kristofic have either graduated or moved on, making this one of the most significant transitions in recent years.

### **Returning Talent and Potential Starters**

Despite the losses, Notre Dame still has a strong foundation to rebuild upon. Guards Billy Schrauth and Pat Coogan bring starting experience, while tackle Charles Jagusah, a former top recruit, is expected to step into a bigger role. Jagusah, in particular, has the athleticism and strength to be a dominant force on the left side, potentially replacing Alt.

At center, Ashton Craig and incoming freshman Peter Jones could battle for playing time, though the Irish may also explore transfer options. Right tackle remains an open competition, with Aamil Wagner and Tosh Baker among the potential candidates to step in.

### **New Additions and Recruiting Pipeline**

Notre Dame has consistently recruited at a high level, and several young linemen could push for playing time. The Irish brought in a strong 2024 recruiting class, including high-profile recruits like Guerby Lambert, a five-star tackle who may compete for immediate reps. Development under offensive line coach Joe Rudolph will be key in determining how quickly these young players can adjust to the college game.

### **Final Outlook**

While replacing multiple starters is never easy, Notre Dame has the talent and coaching to maintain its tradition of dominant offensive line play. The Irish will likely experience some growing pains early in the season, but with the right mix of experienced players and emerging talent, they have the potential to field another strong unit in 2024.
