In a significant development for college football recruiting, five-star offensive lineman Ty Haywood has committed to the Michigan Wolverines, bolstering their 2025 class. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 285 pounds, Haywood is among the nation’s premier offensive line prospects. His decision to join Michigan comes after decommitting from the Alabama Crimson Tide, a program he had been pledged to since July 2024.

Haywood’s recruitment journey took a pivotal turn when he opted not to sign with Alabama during the early signing period in December 2024. This decision signaled a potential shift, with Michigan emerging as a strong contender for his commitment. Reports indicated that the Wolverines intensified their efforts, including a significant Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) push, to secure Haywood’s talents.

The Wolverines’ offensive line coach, Sherrone Moore, played a crucial role in recruiting Haywood, emphasizing the program’s vision and the opportunity for development. Haywood’s official visit to Ann Arbor in mid-January 2025 further solidified his interest, leading to his commitment. He expressed that Michigan “feels like home” and highlighted the coaching staff’s genuine care for him as both a player and person.

Haywood’s addition to Michigan’s roster is a significant boost, especially considering his versatility and athleticism. Scouting reports praise his impressive length, agility, and multi-sport background, noting his potential to become a high-level college protector with early-round NFL draft upside.

This commitment not only strengthens Michigan’s offensive line but also underscores the program’s ability to compete with top-tier schools like Alabama for elite talent. With Haywood on board, the Wolverines’ 2025 recruiting class is poised to make a substantial impact in the coming seasons.
