In a significant development on the college football recruiting front, four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs has decommitted from Ohio State. Boggs, hailing from Cocoa, Florida, had initially committed to the Buckeyes in October 2023 but announced his decision to reopen his recruitment in March 2024.

Standing at 6 feet and weighing 200 pounds, Boggs is ranked as the No. 189 overall prospect and the 24th-rated wide receiver in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. During his junior season at Cocoa High School, he showcased impressive statistics, recording 93 receptions for 1,504 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Following his decommitment, Boggs has attracted interest from several prominent programs, including Miami, Florida, and UCF. In an interview with CaneSport, he mentioned that these schools are actively pursuing him, emphasizing that signing day is still a long way off, and they intend to continue their recruitment efforts.

Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class, which was previously ranked No. 1 nationally, has been impacted by Boggs’ departure. The Buckeyes are now without a wide receiver commitment for that cycle. However, they remain in contention for other top wideout prospects, including Jaime Ffrench, Kaliq Lockett, Dakorien Moore, and Andrew Marsh.

This decommitment underscores the dynamic nature of college football recruiting, where verbal commitments can change as prospects reassess their options. As the recruiting landscape evolves, both Boggs and Ohio State will look to make strategic decisions that align with their respective goals and aspirations.
