Lamont Green Jr., a redshirt freshman defensive end at Florida State University (FSU), has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, signaling his intent to transfer from the Seminoles. This decision follows two seasons with FSU, during which he did not record any statistics.
Green Jr. is the son of Lamont Green Sr., a former FSU standout who played from 1995 to 1998 and was a first-team All-ACC performer and team captain in his senior season.
Prior to his time at FSU, Green Jr. was a highly regarded prospect, earning a four-star rating and ranking among the top 300 recruits in the 2022 class.
Following his entry into the transfer portal, Green Jr. has committed to Florida International University (FIU).
This move is part of a broader trend at FSU, where several defensive players have entered the transfer portal, including defensive end Patrick Payton, who committed to LSU.
In response to these departures, FSU has been active in the transfer portal, securing commitments from defensive end Deante McCray from Western Kentucky and offensive lineman Gunnar Hansen from Vanderbilt.
These roster changes reflect FSU’s efforts to rebuild and strengthen its defensive line for the upcoming season.
