In a significant development for West Virginia University’s (WVU) football program, in-state wide receiver Tyshawn Dues from Hurricane High School has committed to the Mountaineers for the 2025 recruiting class. Dues, a standout athlete from Hurricane, West Virginia, had been on WVU’s radar since they extended an offer in July 2023, marking his first Power 5 offer.
Dues’ commitment is a notable win for WVU, as he is considered one of the top prospects in the state. Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 171 pounds, he has demonstrated exceptional talent on the field. During his junior season, Dues led Hurricane High with 38 receptions for 761 yards and nine touchdowns, contributing to the team’s 10-3 record and a berth in the Class AAA state semifinals.
His senior year further showcased his abilities, with 34 catches totaling 606 yards and three touchdowns. Dues’ athleticism is evident in his recorded 4.48-second 40-yard dash, 4.19-second shuttle run, 33-inch vertical jump, and a bench press of 275 pounds.
Despite the recent firing of head coach Neal Brown following a 6-6 season, WVU’s recruiting efforts have remained strong. On National Signing Day, the Mountaineers secured 21 recruits for the 2025 class, including four players with four-star ratings. Dues, along with fellow in-state recruit Zah Jackson, officially joined the program by signing their National Letters of Intent.
