Ohio State defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau sustained a left ankle injury during the Cotton Bowl on January 10, 2025, when teammate Eddrick Houston inadvertently fell on his leg in the second quarter. Despite the initial pain and requiring medical attention on the sidelines, Tuimoloau returned to the game after having his ankle heavily taped, demonstrating resilience by recording seven tackles, including 2.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks.

In the lead-up to the College Football Playoff National Championship against Notre Dame, Tuimoloau provided positive updates on his condition. He stated, “My ankle is doing great,” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete, saying, “I’m just blessed to be back here and have another day and another good amount of time with my brothers.” Emphasizing his commitment, he added, “This is the national championship. Can’t take any moment for granted.”

Tuimoloau’s determination to play through his injury underscores his dedication to the team and the significance of the upcoming championship game. His presence is expected to bolster Ohio State’s defense as they prepare to face Notre Dame.
