Appalachian State’s Wide Receiver Makai Jackson Chooses IU for 2025, Turning Down Other Powerhouse Programs

Makai Jackson, a standout wide receiver from Appalachian State, has officially committed to Indiana University for the class of 2025. In a highly anticipated decision, Jackson chose to become a Hoosier, turning down offers from several other powerhouse programs in favor of Indiana’s vision and football culture.

The 6’1″ receiver has quickly risen as one of the top recruits in the nation, drawing attention from several major schools with his speed, agility, and playmaking ability. Jackson’s decision to commit to IU is a significant win for the Hoosiers’ football program, as it continues to build its roster and make strides toward competing in the Big Ten.

“I believe in what Coach Allen and the staff are building at Indiana,” Jackson shared. “The program has a clear direction, and I feel like it’s the right place for me to grow as a player and help the team succeed. The coaches made me feel like a priority, and I know they’ll help me reach my full potential.”

Indiana head coach Tom Allen and his staff worked tirelessly to bring Jackson to Bloomington, highlighting the opportunities for growth, the Hoosiers’ offensive system, and the potential to play immediately in the Big Ten. Jackson was particularly impressed with IU’s commitment to developing its players and the strong, family-like culture within the team.

Despite offers from a handful of other schools, including some of the top football programs in the country, Jackson ultimately felt that Indiana was the best fit for both his athletic and personal goals. His ability to stretch the field and make plays in critical moments will provide a huge boost to IU’s receiving corps.

Jackson’s decision also adds depth to Indiana’s offense, giving the Hoosiers another weapon on the outside. His combination of size, speed, and route-running ability will make him a key contributor as Indiana looks to compete at a higher level in the Big Ten.

As the 2025 season approaches, Jackson’s commitment signals the growing momentum within the Hoosiers’ program. With top-tier talent like Jackson joining the ranks, the future of IU football looks increasingly promising. Jackson is excited to take the next step in his football career at Indiana and help the Hoosiers reach new heights in the years ahead.
