Mountaineers Land Nation’s Top-Ranked RB: Savion Hiter Commits to WVU

West Virginia University (WVU) made a major splash in college football recruiting by securing a commitment from Savion Hiter, the nation’s top-ranked running back. Hiter, a standout from the 2025 recruiting class, is regarded as one of the most electrifying playmakers in the country. His decision to choose WVU is a significant victory for the Mountaineers, who have been actively building a competitive roster under head coach Neal Brown.

Hiter’s impressive combination of speed, agility, and power has earned him widespread recognition across the college football landscape. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound runner showcased his versatility on both the ground and through the air during his high school career, consistently finding the end zone and making big plays for his team. His vision, burst, and knack for breaking tackles have made him a highly coveted recruit among top programs nationwide.

West Virginia’s success in landing Hiter can be attributed to their persistence and ability to sell him on the vision for the program. The Mountaineers have been making significant strides in recent seasons, and Hiter’s commitment reflects the team’s growing reputation in the recruiting world. With Hiter’s addition, WVU aims to bolster its offense and create new dynamic opportunities in the backfield.

Hiter’s high school coach praised his character and work ethic, emphasizing how his leadership on and off the field has set him apart. “Savion is more than just a football player,” the coach said. “He’s someone who leads by example, works hard every day, and is determined to make those around him better.”

The recruitment of Hiter signals a new chapter for WVU football, as they look to build a team that can compete at the highest level in the Big 12. With his commitment, the Mountaineers hope to establish a foundation for sustained success, both in the short term and long run.
