Indiana University basketball has secured a significant addition to its roster with the commitment of Tayton Conerway, a standout guard transferring from Troy University. Conerway’s arrival is poised to bolster the Hoosiers’ backcourt, bringing a blend of scoring prowess, defensive tenacity, and leadership experience.

Conerway’s tenure at Troy was marked by exceptional performances and accolades. In the 2024–25 season, he earned the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year award, becoming the first Trojan to receive this honor since 2004. He led the team with an average of 13.7 points per game, shooting an impressive 46.6% from the field. His defensive skills were equally notable, setting a program record with 91 steals in a single season, ranking second nationally.

Conerway’s impact was evident in key games, including a career-high 32-point performance against Arkansas State, where he also contributed four rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. His ability to perform under pressure and contribute across multiple facets of the game underscores his value to any team.

Before his time at Troy, Conerway showcased his talents at Ranger College, averaging 15.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. His performance earned him NJCAA D-I Men’s Basketball All-American First Team honors and the TABC Men’s Player of the Year award in the JUCO division.

At Indiana University, Conerway is expected to bring his dynamic playmaking abilities and defensive acumen to the Hoosiers. His experience and versatility make him a valuable asset as IU aims to strengthen its position in the Big Ten Conference.

Conerway’s commitment to IU reflects the program’s dedication to enhancing its roster with experienced and impactful players. As the Hoosiers prepare for the upcoming season, fans can anticipate an exciting addition to the team’s dynamic with Conerway’s arrival.
