The Michigan Wolverines have secured a significant addition to their football roster by acquiring Justice Haynes, the top-ranked running back in the NCAA transfer portal, from the University of Alabama.

Haynes, a five-star recruit from Buford, Georgia, was highly sought after in the 2023 class, ranking as the No. 3 running back and No. 34 overall player nationally. During his freshman year at Alabama, he showcased his potential by rushing for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. In his sophomore season, he further demonstrated his abilities with 79 carries for 448 yards and seven touchdowns, along with 17 receptions for 99 yards.

Haynes’ decision to transfer to Michigan was influenced by his relationship with running backs coach Tony Alford, who had previously recruited him during his high school years. This connection played a pivotal role in Haynes choosing the Wolverines over other programs such as South Carolina and Ole Miss.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 210 pounds, Haynes is known for his quick footwork, balance, and physical running style. His addition comes at a crucial time for Michigan, as they are set to lose key running backs Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings to the NFL. Haynes is expected to make an immediate impact, bringing experience and depth to the Wolverines’ backfield.

His commitment also highlights Michigan’s proactive approach in utilizing the transfer portal to bolster their roster, aiming to maintain their competitive edge in the Big Ten and on the national stage. With Haynes’ arrival, the Wolverines are poised to continue their tradition of strong rushing attacks, which have been a cornerstone of their recent successes.

As Michigan prepares for the upcoming season, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how Haynes integrates into the team’s offensive scheme and contributes to their pursuit of championship aspirations.
