Under the leadership of head coach Hubert Davis, the University of North Carolina’s men’s basketball team has been actively enhancing its roster for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. A significant development occurred in late January 2025 when five-star forward Caleb Wilson committed to the Tar Heels. Standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 205 pounds, Wilson hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and chose UNC over prestigious programs like Kentucky and Ohio State. In his junior year at Holy Innocents Episcopal School, he averaged 20.8 points and 14.6 rebounds per game, solidifying his status as one of the top prospects in the nation.

Wilson’s commitment propelled UNC’s 2025 recruiting class to the seventh spot nationally and third within the Atlantic Coast Conference, trailing only Duke and Notre Dame. He joined fellow four-star recruits Derek Dixon, a guard from Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C., and Isaiah Denis, a guard from Davidson Day School in North Carolina, both of whom committed to UNC in November 2024.

In addition to bolstering its incoming class, UNC has been proactive in the transfer portal. The team secured commitments from former Georgia Tech forward Ty Claude, former Belmont forward Cade Tyson, and former Vanderbilt forward Ven-Allen Lubin. These additions are expected to provide immediate impact and depth to the Tar Heels’ lineup for the 2025-2026 season.

Coach Davis’s strategic focus on both high school talent and transfer portal acquisitions demonstrates his commitment to building a competitive team. The blend of incoming freshmen and experienced transfers positions UNC for a promising season ahead, as the program continues to adapt to the evolving landscape of college basketball roster construction.
