LSU’s men’s basketball program is experiencing roster changes as players enter the transfer portal. Freshman guard Vyctorious Miller is the latest to seek transfer opportunities. In his debut season, Miller averaged 8.9 points per game, shooting 44.7% from the field, and contributed 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Coming out of high school, he was a 4-star prospect, ranked No. 60 overall and the 11th shooting guard in the 2024 recruiting class.
This development follows a series of transfers from LSU’s basketball team in recent years. For instance, in 2022, starting center Efton Reid III and sophomore guard Eric Gaines entered the transfer portal. Reid started all 34 games that season, averaging 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while Gaines contributed 9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
The transfer portal has significantly impacted college basketball, with many programs experiencing substantial roster turnover. Coaches are adapting by actively recruiting both incoming freshmen and transfer players to build competitive teams. For example, North Dakota guard Treysen Eaglestaff, known for his high-scoring performances, has attracted interest from multiple programs, including LSU.
As LSU navigates these changes, the coaching staff will aim to bolster the roster through recruitment and transfers to remain competitive in the upcoming season.
