In a significant boost to their 2025 recruiting class, the Michigan Wolverines have secured a commitment from five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood, a former Alabama commit. Haywood, who initially pledged to the Crimson Tide in July 2024, announced his decision to flip to Michigan on National Signing Day, February 5, 2025. citeturn0search7

Hailing from Billy Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, Haywood stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 285 pounds. His impressive performance on the field earned him a spot in the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl. National recruiting services have recognized his talent, with ESPN ranking him as the No. 16 overall player in the 2025 class. citeturn0search7

Haywood’s commitment is a testament to Michigan’s recruiting prowess under head coach Sherrone Moore. His addition bolsters an already strong class that includes top-ranked quarterback Bryce Underwood. This influx of elite talent has propelled the Wolverines’ 2025 recruiting class into the top ten nationally, with ESPN ranking them at No. 6. citeturn0search6

The decision to flip from Alabama to Michigan highlights the Wolverines’ growing appeal to top recruits. Haywood’s commitment not only strengthens Michigan’s offensive line but also signals the program’s upward trajectory in competing for national championships.

In addition to Haywood, Michigan has successfully attracted other former SEC commits. Defensive tackle Damon Payne Jr., originally part of Alabama’s 2021 class, transferred to Michigan in December 2024. Similarly, defensive back TJ Metcalf, who began his collegiate career at Arkansas, joined the Wolverines alongside his brother, Tevis, in December 2024. citeturn0search9turn0search10

These strategic acquisitions reflect Michigan’s commitment to enhancing its roster with top-tier talent, positioning the Wolverines as a formidable force in the upcoming seasons.
