The University of South Carolina is embarking on a significant renovation of Williams-Brice Stadium, with the Board of Trustees approving the initiation of the design phase on October 25, 2024. The initial phase focuses on enhancing the West and East sides of the stadium, particularly upgrading premium suites and club seating areas. Current plans propose the addition of 30 traditional suites and 6 Founders Suites, aiming to improve the game-day experience and generate additional revenue for Gamecock Athletics.
The project timeline is as follows:
January 2024 – October 2024: Project development and market study.
October 25, 2024: Approval to hire design and construction management.
January 2025 – December 2025: Project design phase.
December 2025: Commencement of construction.
Spring 2027: Sales and seat selection process for new offerings.
August 2027: Completion of Phase 1 construction.
Future phases are under consideration, potentially including improvements to concessions and restrooms, enhancements to the west ground-level concourse, north end zone seating and amenities, additional loge seating, terrace deck social spaces, and other operational upgrades.
The estimated cost for the initial phase is approximately $109 million, with construction anticipated to take place from May 2025 through September 2027.
These renovations aim to provide fans with a top-tier game-day experience, aligning Williams-Brice Stadium with the best facilities in college athletics.
